How CRISPR Gene Editing Became a Disease Detector: The Collateral Cleavage Principle Behind SHERLOCK and DETECTR

CRISPR enzymes, originally for gene editing, have been repurposed into powerful diagnostic tools through the collateral cleavage mechanism. This principle enables highly sensitive and specific detection of pathogens and disease biomarkers, forming the basis of platforms like SHERLOCK and DETECTR.
